Are you passionate about helping others going through difficult times? Do you consider yourself to be a good listener? Response is seeking volunteer crisis counselors and will offer a free training program to those interested in becoming the caring voice on the other end of the phone or online chat. No experience is necessary, only a sincere willingness to learn and grow and the ability to make a one-year commitment of four hours a week is required. Training for all programs include lecture, role-playing exercises, and private and group supervision. College credit is provided for those attending undergraduate four year colleges. We are always looking for counselors who are bilingual in Spanish and English.
The dates for our remote online prospective volunteer training are as follows:
Tuesday October 19th, 26th, November 3rd, & November 10th from 6-8:30 PM via Microsoft Teams. Our IT staff will help attendees download and test prior to the training.
Once selected to continue with Part II of Response's training, you are then paired with an office trainer for a weekly 4 hour shift where you receive one-to-one instruction and experience. Part II is completed over the course of ten weeks and is currently a remote process. Concurrently, two hour workshops are held once per week in the evenings via Microsoft Teams. . Upon the completion of required training, we seek a one year commitment of one four-hour shift per week.
Those interested in attending the upcoming training can register now to reserve their spot by completing the online volunteer application, which can be found here: www.responsecrisiscenter.org/volunteer.
Registration is pending until an application is complete and verification is conducted.
